Maintain a two to four inch layer of mulch on the soil surface to reduce weeds, infiltrate rain water, and reduce compaction.
Group plants with similar water needs together so that some plants aren't over watered to meet the needs of their more thirsty neighbors.Never include shrub and lawn areas in the same sprinkler zone.
Remove irrigation water and fertilizer from areas where you don't want weeds to grow.
